Why Millennials Prefer Snapchat Over Facebook Inc (FB)?

Millennials continue to prefer Snapchat over Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB). What is the primary reason for it? They seemed to have realized the social consequences of posting every minute details or status in the page. As long as, it meant that sharing of wall posts or status updates on a constant basis, and minute details of their lives, they were okay with it as they brought embarrassing fun sometimes. However, the presence of their teachers, parents, and the possible employers meant that their actions on the social media have its own consequences. In a nutshell, millennials are only leaving for the same reason it entered, i.e. its unreformed ubiquity.

Beyond Young People

As the presence of Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) has gone beyond young people, it has made sharing less comfortable.  It appears that there was no alternative for millennials but to adopt an established base of interconnections enabling them to stalk anyone who was not known to them. That will ensure communications with their friends on a day-today basis. However, it does not mean that young people using the social media have dipped, but its utility has been evolved. That was clear in the Pew Research poll, which indicated that 87% of online adults were 18 – 29 and users of the social media site.

Currently, there are fewer posts from millennials on the social media site and also about less trivial things. While some might think that it might be due to maturity, it was also a fact that Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)’s omnipresence has enabled everyone to have access to their lives. In fact, that was the main reason behind establishing, as well as, maintaining a public persona. Millennials felt that they were not going to broadcast each and everything of their lives authentically. Also, they prefer to engage only in selective sharing.

Infiltration of Gross Pressures

Millennials also started feeling the infiltration of the socialization pressures on their online lives as that contributed to an unadulterated, unfiltered, and direct sharing app. That is where Snapchat is scoring over Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) as it allows broadcast of the millennials lives only to those people that they care. Also, sending snaps take only ten seconds in Snapchat and after that they disappear quickly.

As users need to tap every person for sending it, only a few of them are convenient to do it at the same time. Snapchat allows Millennials to broadcast their lives only to those who were connected. Snapchat also shuns Instagram and Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) traps while keeping private lives alive.
